Walking holidays in Catalonia, Spain
Because of our lovely location we offer guided walking holidays. One of the reasons we moved here is that we love to walk and be outside and the walking here is amazing. The house is 600 metres above sea level and you can step outside the front door, turn left or right and be in the most beautiful unspoilt countryside. There are superb walks with views of Montserrat, the famous mountain with its bizarre jagged silhouette, and monastery dating back to 900 AD .Or another route can take you through pine forests and valleys with stunning views of the Pyrenees on clear days. We are actually on a branch of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, the well known pilgrimage route across Northern Spain.
Whichever way you go you are surrounded by wild rosemary, thyme and sage, its like kicking your way through a huge herb garden, the smells are amazing. Often you will see a wild eagle or peregrine falcon, there are hundreds of rabbits and occasionally we’ll stumble across a wild boar !!!
We will walk on 5 days, Monday to Friday, for 5 to 6 hours per day.
Most of our walking holidays will be led by Ann Durham, the rest by us, she lives in Yorkshire and is a real part of the Cal Catiu family.
We also have a really exciting opportunity to offer
daily adventure excursions to the amazing mountain
of montserrat.
For an additional supplement you can be taken canyoning,
caving, climbing, via ferrattas (climbing on metal rungs set into the side of the mountain) and even nordic skiing (in the right season).
We have teamed up with a brilliant company in El Bruc
who will collect you from here and bring you back tired
but elated.
All guides are English speaking.
